This is the yummiest breakfast you will ever eat.
A few weeks ago, my family and I went to the Cafe for Sunday brunch and I ordered strawberry French toast. It was super delicious, but I kinda forgot about it until a few days ago when I caught a glimpse of the people on the Today's Show making French toast. All the yummy memories came back and I decided I HAD to recreate the recipe. I did a pretty good job if I do say so myself!

What does it mean when your dog has better self-control than you do? |
One serving
Ingredients
Toast
Two slices of a baguette
1 egg
1 1/2 Tbs half & half
1/4 tsp vanilla
1/8 tsp cinnamon
Dash of nutmeg
Dash of ground ginger
1/2 Tbs butter
2 tsp brown sugar
Toppings
1/4 cup frozen strawberries
1 tsp water
1/2 Tbs water
1 Tbs powdered sugar
1/4 cup half & half
Dash of salt
Granola
Step 1-- Put your bread in the oven or toaster just long enough for it to get a little crispy, but not golden
Step 2-- Whisk together the egg, half & half, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger.
Step 3-- Soak the bread in the mixture for 5 minutes each side
Step 4-- While the bread is soaking, put the strawberries and 1 tsp of water into a small sauce pan. Heat until the strawberries are soft.Once the strawberries are warm put them aside.
Step 5-- Heat the powdered sugar and 1/2 Tbs of water in a small sauce pan on medium heat until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is bubbling.
Step 6-- Whisk in the half &half and salt. Turn the heat to low and simmer until it is syrup consistency, stirrin frequently.
Step 7-- When there is about 1 minute left for the soaking bread, melt the butter on a skillet at high heat. Then stir in the brown sugar and allow to caramelize a little.
Step 8-- After the bread has soaked up the egg mixture, put it on the skillet. Turn to medium high heat.
Step 9-- Let the toast cook until the brown sugar caramelizes onto it and it is slightly crispy on both sides.
Step 10-- Put the toast on a plate and top with the strawberries, cream sauce, and a bit of granola.
Enjoy your masterpiece!
YUM! |
